I was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and was painting as soon as I could hold a brush. The biggest influence on my lifestyle, love of light, and my sense of fun was acquired in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I grew up.

I paint in mediums of many kinds: pen and ink, acrylics, gouache, watercolor, and oils, but my current passion is pastels. I was attracted to pastels because of their versatility and immediate gratification: there’s no drying time! I love the fabulous layers of luminescent hues and light, but the element I love most is the brilliant and outrageous colors. Pastels are also highly portable, and I can paint almost anywhere I go.

I have taught, studied, and shown my work in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Paris, and closer to home in Oregon, California, Montana, and Washington. My work covers a broad spectrum of productions: fine artwork, murals, calendars, school textbooks, greeting cards, custom ceramic tiles, and many commissioned pieces.

I have a Fine Arts Degree from the University of California at Chico, and a Fine Arts Degree from Nanyang University in Singapore, but I credit my real education to my many teachers along the way: Janet Hamilton, Teresa Saia, Susan Ogilvie, Priscilla Kreji, Marla Bagetta, Mitch Albala, and especially Barrett Edwards. These people were not only wonderful instructors, but they inspired me to pursue my passion for art.

I am an emotional and impulsive artist; I paint on inspiration and excitement. My hope is that people who see my work will be able to sense those qualities, and enjoy viewing the paintings as much as I did creating them.
